HVAC

The purpose of a heating system is obvious. How well a heating system performs is not so obvious. A well-designed heating system is large enough to provide adequate heat on the coldest day, is reliable, is inexpensive to install and operate (efficient), is quick to respond to its controls, can heat all parts of the home equally or differentially, and is safe. There is no one heating system that performs all of these functions perfectly.

There are many types of air conditioning and heat pump systems; however, they all work on the same principle. They move heat from a relatively cool space to a relatively warm space. In the summer, they take heat from the house air and transfer it to the exterior. This heat may be transferred to the outside air, a body of water, or into the ground. In the heating season, heat pumps reverse the process, moving heat from the outside air, ground, or water, into the air inside the home.
