Structure

The structure of a home is the skeleton, which includes the foundations and footings as well as the floors, walls, and roof. Structures are judged by how well they are able to stand still.

There are different types of structures for residential homes, each one is determined by climate, cost, regional building practices and restrictions imposed by the building site. In areas prone to hurricanes and flooding, buildings may be built on posts or stilts to keep the home well above grade.
